Message From The Chief
It is an honor to serve this community and the amazing men and women of the La Mesa Police Department as your Police Chief. Our motto of “Working in Partnership with our Community” encompasses the importance of police/community relations and how that relationship helps to build trust and reduce crime.
We are dedicated to establishing connections and collaboration with our community and all those we interact with. Providing the best police services that we can all be proud of and treating others with respect is our top priority. We are committed to making La Mesa a safe place to live, work, or visit for all.

The department has 69 sworn officers and 31 civilian employees, as well as a large contingent of retired senior volunteers. The department answers over 100,000 calls for service each year with the Patrol Division, Investigations Unit, Special Investigations Unit, Traffic Unit, School Resource Unit, and Crime Prevention / Community Resource Unit.
